Disability Advocacy

We provide a free and confidential advocacy service  for people with disabilities, their family members and carers. We also assist people with disabilities to self advocate.


What is a Disability?

We use a broad definition of disability which includes, but is not limited to:

  • Physical conditions
  • Emotional conditions
  • Intellectual conditions
  • Medical conditions
  • Psychiatric conditions
  • Neurological conditions
  • Mental illness
  • Chronic diseases

What is IDAS?

Our Disability Advocacy service is IDAS, the Individual Disability Advocacy Service. We deliver this in partnership with Sussex Street Community Legal Service throughout the Great Southern region.

How can we help?

We can offer:

  • INFORMATION on your rights, your options and on available services and resources
  • REFERRAL to an agency or service in your area
  • ONE-TO-ONE SUPPORT to work with you to deal with problems
  • TRAINING to show you how to deal with issues for yourself

Where is this service available?

Throughout the Great Southern region. This includes Albany, Bremer Bay, Broomehill, Cranbrook, Denmark, Gnowangerup, Jerramungup, Katanning, Kojonup, Mount Barker, Nyabing and Tambellup.
